LinkedIn follow-ups that add something, and stop at the right time

When a prospect does not reply, MimikFlow follows up with a new message every time, at a pace you choose, and stops everything as soon as they reply or decline.

MimikFlow's automated follow-ups track every prospect who stays silent after the first message: up to 8 follow-ups on Pro and Agency, 6 on Discovery. The AI writes each one from the profile and what was already sent, or you write your own step by step. A reply stops the sequence immediately.

How does a follow-up sequence work?

  1. 01

    The first message goes out

The countdown starts with the first message. The sending day of each follow-up is counted from it, and with the suggested paces, the first follow-up waits at least two days.

  2. 02

    The cadence sets in

Depending on the pace you choose, the gap between two follow-ups grows along the sequence. You see the sending day of each step in advance.

  3. 03

Each follow-up is written when it is sent

The AI writes from the profile, the first message and what was already sent. You can also write the message and the day of some steps yourself; a step left empty is written by the AI.

  4. 04

A media file can join a step

On Pro and Agency, a video, a document or an image from your media library can be attached to a specific follow-up, by default the fourth one for the video.

  5. 05

    The sequence stops

Reply, refusal, unsubscribe or end of sequence: the machine stops following up. On Pro and Agency, a prospect who asks to be contacted later is followed up on the date they mentioned.

Why follow up, and why never with the same message?

Many replies do not come after the first message. The prospect read it between two meetings, meant to answer later, then forgot. A well-timed follow-up gives them an easy new chance to reply. But a follow-up that repeats "just circling back" adds nothing and hurts your image.

MimikFlow treats every follow-up as a new message. The AI rereads the profile, the first message and the follow-ups already sent, then writes something with a reason to exist: a question about the prospect's situation, an angle they have not seen yet, a useful resource. A check compares each follow-up with every message the prospect already received and blocks an exact repeat before sending.

And since a follow-up only makes sense before a reply, the sequence stops as soon as the prospect writes. What comes next is no longer a follow-up, it is a conversation.

What do you control in follow-ups?

Number of follow-ups

Up to eight on Pro and Agency, up to six on Discovery. The screen never offers more than your plan actually sends.

Pace

Relaxed, Standard or Dynamic. The gap between two follow-ups grows along the sequence, and the preview shows the day of each send.

Who writes

The AI, you, or both: you write the steps that matter most to you and let the AI draft the others.

Your instructions

A tone, topics to avoid, what matters to you. They apply to every follow-up, before and after a reply.

Follow-ups after a reply

For a prospect who replied then went quiet, a short sequence resumes where they stopped, then a comeback is scheduled about three months later. It runs with the AI that replies, from the Pro plan.

Your latest news

A new offer, a customer case, an announcement: MimikFlow can replace the next follow-up with a message built from that news.

What safeguards frame follow-ups?

Never the same text twice

Each follow-up is compared with every automated message the prospect already received. An exact repeat is held back before reaching LinkedIn.

A refusal stops everything

A "no thanks" or a request to stop ends automation for that prospect, with no polite follow-up after it.

No invented link or contact detail

A follow-up containing a link or a contact detail from nowhere is held back and rewritten on the next pass.

Your hours respected

Follow-ups only go out within your sending window and under your LinkedIn account's daily message ceiling.

What does a good follow-up look like?

A good follow-up is short and about the prospect, not about you. It asks about their situation, within the topic the first message opened, and hooks onto a fact that belongs to them: their role, their company, a recent post. Follow-ups that talk about themselves or re-explain the offer get fewer replies.

That is why MimikFlow does not slip an offer presentation into the middle of the sequence. The last follow-ups instead open a door the prospect has not seen yet, drawn from their profile. A light nudge such as "did you see my message?" is still possible, but always anchored on them.

If you prefer to keep control of the tone, write the most important steps yourself and let the AI complete the rest. Your instructions apply to all of them.

How many follow-ups should you send on LinkedIn?

There is no magic number, but the data gives an order of magnitude. In the MimikFlow 2026 Observatory, the first message brings 53.6% of replies, the first follow-up adds 21.9 points and the second 9.2 points. Three follow-ups cover 90.2% of observed replies.

Three spaced follow-ups are therefore a good starting point. Beyond that, replies remain possible but rarer, and an explicit refusal always stops the sequence.

Which plan includes automated follow-ups?

Automated follow-ups are included in every LinkedIn plan. Discovery sends up to 6 follow-ups per prospect, with no media. Pro and Agency go up to 8 follow-ups, with video, document or image, and add follow-ups after a reply.

What do people ask about automated follow-ups?

Do follow-ups stop when the prospect replies?

Yes, immediately. A reply moves the prospect into conversation. On Pro and Agency, the AI that replies takes over; on Discovery, the conversation is handed to you in the inbox.

Can I write my follow-ups myself?

Yes. Choose to write them yourself and set the message and day of each step. A step left empty is written by the AI, so you can mix both.

Can follow-ups include a video?

Yes, on Pro and Agency. A video, a document or an image from your media library can be tied to a specific follow-up. Discovery sends text-only follow-ups.

What if a prospect asks to be contacted later?

On Pro and Agency, the AI understands the request, schedules a follow-up on the date mentioned and resumes the conversation at that point, taking into account what was said.

How many follow-ups go out each day?

They go out within your sending window and under your LinkedIn account's daily message ceiling, shared with the AI's replies. The machine never packs everything into a single hour.
